KEYWORDS (Box): Not a tool for creating a “fictional character”

The TSR staff wants to reiterate the importance and purpose of the KEYWORDS Box. This feature is here to ensure candidates are aware of the most relevant “industry” terms related to a specific job description. Potential employers look for certain words and terms on the Resume/CV as a measurement of the candidates knowledge of and awareness of the responsibilities associated with the position.

If there is no obvious connection between the candidate and the job description and responsibilities, one should not attempt to create a nexus by randomly listing relevant keywords throughout the Resume/CV. Such behavior is unethical and dishonest. Also, this behavior which displays a lack of knowledge will be exposed either during the interview or later as an employee.

The TSR staff wants to instill integrity in each candidate or web visitor using our services.  When preparing a Resume/CV or Cover Letter, we can only match keywords with what lies in the candidates previous work and educational experiences. Our mission is to develop (if possible) a relationship between the candidate, the job requirements, and the potential employer. If such a relationship cannot be created, TSR will not attempt to fabricate one.

We remind you that a lack certain background experiences does not disqualify a candidacy. Having a specific educational discipline will many times compensate for a lack of experience.

ECHL Job Fair (invitation only)

The ECHL (East Coast Hockey League) will be conducting a Ticket Sales Job Fair on June 18, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This Job Fair is by invitation only and the following positions will be available for hire: Sales Representative and Ticket Sales Manager.

The ECHL will be selective in granting invitations for participation. However, the invitation is only the 1st step. Once invited, the applicants must then go through the interview stage.

TSR suggests to those planning to submit a Resume for consideration is to first “study” the requisite job descriptions. Here you will see what management seeks in qualified candidates and the related job responsibilities. Make certain these positions are ones you desire to pursue.

ECHL Job Fair Preparation Tips:

Study the history of the ECHL and its Member Organizations

Resume should contain at a minimum “5″ relevant Keywords relating to the available job descriptions Note: The Keywords will be available from your previous employment history

Prepare at least “2″ questions to ask the interviewer if the opportunity presents itself

Have a 3rd party review and analyze your Resume prior to submission

TSR wishes all potential candidates success at this event. We will participate and have a booth. Feel free to stop by and get additional feedback and helpful tips. Also, read the previous blog postings for additional advice and information. Enclosed is the Job Fair URL: http://echl.teamworkonline.com/teamwork/r.cfm?i=28567

KEYWORD BOX

The writers of TSR are please to introduce the KEYWORD BOX. The Keyword Box is placed to assist those Sports Industry job seekers who place their Resume/CV and Cover Letters on various online recruitment sites.

What we do is analyze the most frequently posted job descriptions of Sports Industry employers. Next we look at what the employers are looking for in a potential employee and what goals the position will provide to the organization.

Last, we document the most “beneficial” terms one should use on his/her Resume/CV when applying for that particular position. Only a small percentage of candidates will be able to use every term. However, we place as many terms as possible to encompass the various backgrounds of candidates.  TSR is here to cultivate the candidates experiences and tailor the Resume/CV to match at least the minimal requirements necessary for the particular position.

The location of Keywords will help those employers using the “Resume/CV electronic scan-method” to locate you. The goal is to give you an advantage when placing your credentials amongst  the millions of candidates seeking Sports Industry employment.

TSR will place a new position in the KEYWORD BOX daily.
